Our
Events
Throughout the year we hold a variety of events to promote women’s surfing within the Hawke’s Bay region.
Since establishing Sea Sisters, it has been our mission to create these safe and nurturing spaces for wāhine of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate the joy that surfing brings to us all.
Lady of the Log

oct ‘22
October ‘22 was our inaugural Lady of the Log longboarding competition, held at Te Āwanga Point in Hawke’s Bay. There are two divisions - beginners and advanced.
The Lady of the Log has stemmed from the continuous aroha and tautoko we have been shown by our beautiful community in both Hawke’s Bay and across the motu. This community has nurtured us and allowed us to learn and grow. The Lady of the Log is an extension of this kaupapa - a space to connect, inspire and celebrate the amazing community of surfing.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors of the event - Lightwave, Atmosea, Fonduswim, Kim Morgan, Cape Yoga, Hustle Surf & Moto, Gemma Lee, Surf Supply Company, MSFT Productions, Creatures of Leisure.
A big mihi to Alt Surfworks for donating a custom log to be raffled. The proceeds of which went directly to the Heretaunga Women’s Centre.
Thank you to our photographers! Cat Sutherland, Brandon Weekes and Brett Morrison.
Much love to our friends and whānau who volunteered their time and helped out on the day.
It couldn’t have happened without you all!
Keep your eyes peeled for Lady of the Log ‘23
Meet Ups
Every month we hold a meet up at a surf spot (conditions dependent) for wāhine surfers of all abilities to get together, form new connections and share the stoke of the surf. It’s a great way to meet new people and discover a new surf crew.
We want to build the women’s surf community in Hawke’s Bay and it all starts with creating spaces for women and girls to get out in the water in an inclusive and supportive environment x
Check out our calendar to see when the next meet up is happening, or head over to our socials for more details about the day!
